Guillen Says He?s Ready To Lead Team

Just hours after an outburst in the clubhouse, Royals' outfielder Jose Guillen claims he's ready to step up and lead the young team, according to The Kansas City Star.

"This (stuff) has to stop, man," he complained after the team's tenth-straight loss on Wednesday. "It can?t go on like this."

Maybe, after years of being the immature one in the clubhouse, Guillen is ready to lead.

"I learned the hard way," Guillen says. "I?m not trying to point fingers at anybody, but this is not going to happen here. I signed a big deal here. I?m supposed to be one of the leaders. I?ve got a big responsibility to carry some of these young guys, and we need to play hard, so what?s wrong with getting on some guys?"

Guillen Snaps After Royals 10th-Straight Loss

Veteran outfielder Jose Guillen snapped on Wednesday night after the Royals lost their tenth-straight game, according to The Kansas City Star.

"Too many babies in here," Guillen fumed afterward in the clubhouse. "They don?t know how to play the game and how to win games. That?s the problem here."

Kansas City is 21-32, the fourth-worst record in all of baseball.

"Now I know why this organization has been losing for a while. Now I know. It doesn?t have anything to do with our manager. He cares more than anyone," Guillen added.

Lester Throws No-Hitter In Boston

Jon Lester threw the eighteenth no-hitter in Red Sox history on Monday night as he guided Boston to a 7-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Lester allowed just two baserunners, while striking out nine batters.

Boston enjoyed their last no-hitter on Sept. 1, 2007 when Clay Buchholz posted one in just his second Major League start.

The Red Sox scored five runs in the third inning, and catcher Jason Varitek provided yet another offense spark in the seventh with a two-run home run.

Lester survived cancer to battle back and pitch in the team's World Series-clinching game last fall.
