Chacon Agrees To Deal With Astros

Pitcher Shawn Chacon has agreed to terms with the Houston Astros on a one-year deal, according to the Associated Press.

The deal is reportedly worth $2 million.

"I had opportunities elsewhere," Chacon told the AP as he arrived in Houston. "My main thing was wanting to start, and I'm getting an opportunity here."

Miguel Tejada Mum On Steroid Allegations

Houston shortstop Miguel Tejada reported to spring training on Tuesday but didn't have much to say about the steroid allegations surrounding him, according to the Associated Press.

"I can't really talk about that situation," he told the AP. "Right now, I just want to talk about baseball because that's really my focus."

Astros Win Arbitration Case With Valverde

The Astros won their salary arbitration case with pitcher Jose Valverde on Friday, according to the team?s web site.

As a result, Valverde will make $4.7M for the 2008 season instead of the $6.2M he requested in the hearing.
