MLB May Suspend Umpire West

A source claims that Major League Baseball plans to suspend or fine umpire Joe West.

West, one of baseball's most tenured umpires, solicited reporters this week to talk about the controversy he created in April when he called the Yankees and Red Sox "pathetic and embarrassing" because of their long game times.

MLB reprimanded West during a phone conversation Thursday.

Identifying Potential Future Managers

One talent evaluator noted two coaches who could develop into Major League managers are Chip Hale, currently the third-base coach with the Mets, and Mike Quade, the Cubs' third-base coach.

Quade, the evaluator notes, has had success managing in winter ball.
