Shortstop Hanley Ramirez believes in the direction of the Marlins even though the team parted ways with a number of key players this offseason.
"They know what they're doing," Ramirez told LasMayores.com, MLB.com's Spanish Web site. "It's a franchise that has won two World Series. It's a good front office, and the team they've built will be strong."

The Marlins are unlikely to trade Dan Uggla.
"Everyone is on the trading block, but some players are more likely than others to get traded and I would certainly put him in the less-likely (category) as we speak today," Marlins' President David Samson said Wednesday.

Dan Uggla's agent was blunt in his believed perceptions of what the Marlins think of his client long-term.
"The Marlins are not interested in signing Daniel Uggla to a multi-year contract," Jeff Borris said. "We always would be open to listen to anything, but they made it very clear to us they were only going to sign Hanley (Ramirez) and Hanley alone."
Uggla wants $5.35M in arbitration while the Marlins are bringing $4.4M to the table.
