Florida Spends More On Marketing Than Any Other MLB Club

The Marlins say they spend more than $10 million annually on advertising and marketing, more than any other team.

President David Samson insists they can't afford to spend anymore money on players, "because we need to advertise and be creative in our market."

RealGM Note: They also have the lowest payroll in the MLB of $21 million. Hanley Ramirez, is currently having the 12th best season in all of baseball and 'deserves' to make $16 million, but is taking home just $439k, making him and his +3545% Reina Value one of the best bargains in the game.

Marlins In No Rush To Lock Up Hanley

The Marlins are in no rush to lock up Hanley Ramirez to a long-term contract. He's eligible for arbitration the next three offseasons and free agency after 2011.

RealGM Note: Ramirez 'deserved' to make $14.5 million in 2007, giving him a Reina Value of +3,507%. This season, he currently 'deserves' to make $16 million as the 11th most productive player in the MLB.
