The Tigers have agreed to a two-year contract with infielder Ramon Santiago.
Santiago, 32, hit .260 in 101 games last season, playing mostly second base. He hit .295 after the All-Star break, helping Detroit pull away to win the AL Central.
He was one of four players to make at least 22 starts at second base for the Tigers in 2011, along with Ryan Raburn, Carlos Guillen and Will Rhymes.

New rules under the collective bargaining agreement announced this week could change how teams approach free agency for the remainder of the winter.
Teams no longer have to surrender high draft picks for signing some free agents, one of which is second baseman Kelly Johnson.
If Detroit signs Johnson, he won't cost them a first-round draft pick as he would have previously.
