Detroit Tigers Wiretap

Jeter Unlikely To Be Courted By Tigers

The overwhelming belief is that the Yankees will re-sign Derek Jeter, but some wondered whether the Tigers would make a run at the shortstop.

However, FOX Sports says that's unlikely to happen despite the fact that Jeter is a Michigan native.

Instead, the Tigers are expected to reach an agreement with shortstop Jhonny Peralta.

Tigers Have Interest In Crawford

The Tigers are very interested in free-agent outfielder Carl Crawford, according to sources.

Defensively, Detroit would like to pair Crawford with Austin Jackson.

Much of the Crawford talk has involved the Red Sox and Angels at this point.

Tigers Could Make Play For Dunn

Because the Tigers have re-signed Brandon Inge, they will not be in the market to sign Adrian Beltre and therefore can be a player for Adam Dunn.

Dunn prefers the National League, but the Tigers, White Sox and Yankees are expected to be in the market for the slugger.

Inge Agrees To Two-Year Extension With Tigers

Brandon Inge and the Tigers have agreed to a two-year extension, which includes a club option for 2013.

"The Tigers' organization is pleased to announce the signing of Brandon today," general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "Brandon is one of the top defensive third basemen in the game and a quality individual we are proud to have as a representative of the organization."

Ordonez Wants To Stay With Tigers

Magglio Ordonez told a Venezuelan reporter recently that there is a good chance he'll return to the Tigers next season.

"I want to stay in Detroit, obviously," Ordonez said. "I have my friends, my teammates. I know the organization has been very good to me and the fans have treated me great. ... I think there is a great chance to stay in Detroit, but let's see what happens."

Ordonez is projected to be a Type A free agent this winter and there is some belief that he might chase a deal richer than Detroit is willing to give him.
