Tigers Will Skip Willis In Rotation

Dontrelle Willis will not make his scheduled start for the Tigers on Saturday.

Detroit manager Jim Leyland wouldn't discuss the troubled pitcher, other than announcing that he has been scratched from the start.

"I'll make this easy for all of you, so we can stop all the bull," Leyland said. "Dontrelle will not pitch on Saturday. That's the end of the conversation. No further information goes along with that.

"He will not pitch Saturday. No more questions about that."

Willis: Tigers Might Have To Get Someone Else

Frustrated with himself, Dontrelle Willis admitted that the Tigers might need to replace him with someone else in the rotation.

"Today just was unacceptable," Willis said after Sunday's loss to the Pirates. "... I have to do something or somebody else is going to have to go out and help this team win. Skip's going to have to find someone else to do it."

Willis is 0-3 with an 11.81 ERA in his last four starts, having walked 20 with eight strike outs in 16 innings.
