Inge Expresses Anger Over Cabrera Trade

Detroit third baseman Brandon Inge is angry that the Tigers traded for Miguel Cabrera, according to the Associated Press.

He asked the Tigers to trade him following the acquisition of Cabrera, but a deal was never made and doesn't seem to be in the future.

"They're still trying to trade me, but I need to get ready for the possibility that I'm going to spring training with the Tigers," Inge told the AP Monday. "People have said or written, 'Take your $6 million and be happy sitting on the bench.' But money doesn't make me happy - playing baseball does."

Tigers' Granderson Could Get Long-Term Deal

The Detroit Free Press has reported that the Tigers have initiated talks with outfielder Curtis Granderson on a long-term contract extension.

Granderson won't be a free agent until after the 2011 season, but Detroit traded all of their centerfielder prospects this summer, increasing their need to keep Granderson around.

Report: FBI Alerted To Canseco 'Offer' To Ordonez

Jose Canseco offered to keep Tigers' slugger Magglio Ordonez "clear" in his upcoming book on steroid use in Major League League if the outfielder invested in one of Canseco's projects, the New York Times reported Wednesday night.

The Times cited several sources within the game in a report on its website and revealed that the matter was discussed with the FBI.

Ordonez opted not to press charges against Canseco.

Tigers, Cabrera Agree To One-Year, $11.3M Deal

Miguel Cabrera and the Tigers agreed Friday to a one-year contract worth $11.3 million, avoiding salary arbitration before the third baseman's first season with the team.

Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis joined Detroit as part of a trade with Florida in December. The Marlins received a package of six players, including two highly rated prospects: left-hander Andrew Miller and outfielder Cameron Maybin.

Cabrera, 24, can become a free agent after the 2009 season, but the Tigers hope to keep him long term.

Robertson Agrees To Three-Year, $21.25 Million Deal With Detroit

Pitcher Nate Robertson and the Detroit Tigers avoided salary arbitration when they agreed Wednesday to a $21.25 million, three-year contract.

Robertson was 9-13 with a 4.76 ERA in 30 starts with Detroit last season. He would have been eligible for free agency after the 2009 season.

"Nate has been a quality starter during his time with the Tigers," Tigers president Dave Dombrowski said. "We are excited to sign Nate to a long-term contract, and we look forward to him being part of our rotation for years to come."
