The Rockies have endured a disappointing season, going 53-75, but they have excelled against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is sixteen games ahead of Colorado in the standings, but the Rockies have won eight of their fourteen games against the Dodgers in 2012.
"This is where you want to make up your ground," Don Mattingly said. "It doesn't make sense. The Rockies have more wins against us, but we've played the Cardinals and Braves real well."

The Rockies have been pulling starters after 75 pitches and using a "piggyback" reliever as part of Project 5,183.
The plan is called Project 5,183 because that is the altitude at Coors Field.
The Rockies could become the first team in baseball history without a single pitcher logging at least 100 innings due to the unorthodox plan.
It was implemented in mid-June when the season was already a lost cause and things have only gotten worse.
"We wouldn't have ventured into this if we were in a pennant race," Jim Tracy said. "It's very safe to say we're not. We have nothing to lose. We are looking at young players. We're trying to figure out if this will work period, let alone in a pennant race."
