Report: Mora To Join Rockies

Melvin Mora has agreed to a one-year, $1.275 million deal with the Rockies, according to multiple reports.

Mora will be a right-handed hitting utility player for Colorado in the 2010 season.

The Orioles declined their $8 million option on Mora in October, making him a free agent.

Having lost out on Orlando Cabrera, the Rockies have turned their attention towards free-agent infielder Melvin Mora.

Cabrera agreed to a one-year deal with the Reds on Sunday morning.

Free-agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera is being looked at by Cincinnati, Cleveland and Washington.

However, according to a major league source, neither of the teams are close to a deal with Cabrera.

Both the Rockies and Nationals are also believed to be pursuing second baseman Orlando Hudson, which could affect where Cabrera lands.

Reds, Rockies Battle For Orlando Cabrera

Free-agent infielder Orlando Cabrera is deciding between the Reds and Rockies, according to his agents.

Cabrera hit .284 last season with nine home runs and 77 RBIs in 160 games split between Oakland and Minnesota.

Colorado was focusing on Melvin Mora, but they have turned their attention to Cabrera. Mora still fits what the Rockies are looking for, but he's in more demand.

Giambi Signs One-Year Deal With Rockies

Jason Giambi signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Rockies on Thursday.

Giambi will backup Todd Helton at first base and serve as a pinch-hitter.

He hit .292 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 19 games for the Rockies last September.
