The Rockies could cut ties with catcher Yorvit Torrealba.

Colorado is working out a deal with free-agent Miguel Olivo, according to multiple sources.

Torrealba was close to re-signing a few weeks ago, but the two sides couldn't agree on how money would be distributed in a rumored two-year, $6 million contract.

Rockies, Cubs Discussing Spilborghs Trade

Sources told ESPNChicago.com that the Cubs and Rockies are discussing a trade that would send outfielder Ryan Spilborghs to Chicago.

Spilborghs would become the fourth outfielder for the Cubs, who previously used Reed Johnson in the role.


Atkins Signs Deal With Baltimore

Garrett Atkins has signed a one-year, $4-million deal with the Baltimore Orioles that includes an $8.5 club option with a $500,000 buyout.

Atkins can make an additional $500,000 in plate appearance bonuses. Atkins struggled with the Rockies last season, losing his starting job to Ian Stewart in the first week of June.

Garrett Atkins Hits Free Agent Market

The Rockies failed to offer third baseman Garrett Atkins a contract for 2010 prior to Saturday's deadline.

Atkins, 30, had spent his entire seven-year major league career with the Rockies.

He hit .226 with nine home runs and 48 RBIs in 2009.
