Yankees Could Make Play For Street

The Yankees could inquire about reliever Huston Street if the Rockies fall out of the playoff race.

According to a source, the Yankees may have already asked about Street and their interest in the pitcher is "serious."

The source said that New York general manager Brian Cashman inquired about Street in May, when the team's bullpen started struggling.

Angels Talk To Rockies About Street

In need of bullpen help, the Angels have spoken to the Rockies about reliever Huston Street.

Other possible targets for Los Angeles include Jose Valverde or LaTroy Hawkins of the Astros and Chad Qualls of the Diamondbacks.

"I don't think it has to evolve into one eighth-inning guy, but if it does, great," manager Mike Scioscia said. "That means somebody's stepping up. Right now we're going to have to go by committee to get to" closer Brian Fuentes.

Rockies Tie Record, Win 11th Straight

The Rockies won their 11th straight game on Sunday, beating the Mariners 7-1 at Coors Field.

The streak ties a franchise record, set back in 2007 when Colorado advanced all the way to the World Series.

"Every day we walk out on the field we expect to win," first baseman Todd Helton said. "In the big leagues you're facing good teams and sometimes it doesn't happen and that's why you don't get too down when things go bad because you can always turn them around."
