Royals Trade De La Rosa To Rockies

The Kansas City Royals have traded left-handed pitcher Jorge De La Rosa and cash to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for a player to be named.

Since De La Rosa is not currently on the Royals 40-man roster, he will be assigned from Omaha to the Class AAA Colorado Springs roster.

De La Rosa, 27, has spent the opening portion of the 2008 season with Omaha (AAA) and went 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA (22 IP, 18 H, 4 ER, 7 BB, 23 SO) in four starts.

The resident of Nuevo Leon, Mexico was 11-16 with a 5.64 ERA in 36 outings (33 starts) for the Royals in 2006 and 2007 after being acquired on July 25, 2006 from Milwaukee for infielder Tony Graffanino.

Home-Plate Umpire Hurt At Dodger Stadium

Home-plate umpire Kerwin Danley briefly lost consciousness after being hit in the mask with a fastball thrown by the Dodgers' Brad Penny on Saturday, according to MLB.com.

There was a delay in the fourth inning, as Danley was taken off in an ambulance.

The ball hit him on the jaw, and he lost consciousness for "a couple of seconds" according to the Dodgers' public relations staff.

"The Dodgers' training staff was great," third-base umpire Greg Gibson said. "I'm very grateful to them for the support -- getting the ambulance and everything they did for us. Sometimes with our relationship, teams don't agree with what we do, but we're a family."
