Wells Looking For Some Rocky Mountain Magic

Right-hander Kip Wells' signing with the Rockies sparked a recounting of the team's success helping talented pitchers revive their careers. It looks as if there's Rocky Mountain magic in the purple pinstripes and the teachings of pitching coach Bob Apodaca.

But Wells, 30, knows success takes more than golden words. A top pick of the White Sox in the 1998 First-Year Player Draft, he has had the Major League coaching of the Sox (1999-2001), Pirates (2002-06), Rangers (2006) and Cardinals (2007), but has a 64-91 career record and 4.93 ERA -- including 7-17 with a 5.40 ERA last season -- to show for it.
