Rockies Place Hawkins On 15-Day DL

The Rockies on Tuesday placed righthander LaTroy Hawkins on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

The move is retroactive to April 21.

Rockies Place Ramirez On DL, Designate Herges For Assignment

The Rockies placed reliever Ramon Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right elbow Saturday and designated pitcher Matt Herges for assignment.

Colorado called up right-handed pitchers Ryan Speier and Bobby Keppel from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

"We had to fill some voids," manager Clint Hurdle said. "We've got to have some depth."
