Sizemore Fine Hitting Second For Indians

Grady Sizemore is fine moving to the second spot in Cleveland's batting order to help increase run potential.

"It's a luxury to have a guy like him leading off," said Manny Acta. "Right now, I've got a couple of guys who are no longer here, and we need to lengthen our lineup."

Indians second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera will move into the leadoff spot.

LaPorta Is Aiming For March 10 Return

Indians outfielder Matt LaPorta is recovering from surgery on his left big toe and left hip.

LaPorta says March 10 is the tentative date for him to start playing Cactus League games.

He has been pushed from first base to left field with the arrival of free-agent Russell Branyan.

"I can't worry about positions until I'm 100 percent," LaPorta said.

Indians Could Use Wood As Trade Chip

Indians reliever Kerry Wood could be used as a trade chip by the team this year.

There was lukewarm interest in the veteran over the winter.

A few teams inquired, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, but they wanted the Indians to absorb most of Wood's 2010 salary.

The Indians have completed a one-year deal with Russell Branyan.

The two sides reached a preliminary agreement last week that was contingent on a physical.

Branyan set career highs with 31 home runs and 76 RBIs for Seattle last season.

Physical Will Determine If Branyan Lands In Cleveland

Russell Branyan will report to the Indians on Tuesday to take a physical, which will determine if his contract with the team becomes official.

Branyan has reportedly come to terms with the Indians on a one-year, $2 million deal. There is a mutual option worth $5 million for 2011.

He had last season cut short by a back injury when he hit 31 homers for Seattle. The Indians want to see if he's healthy.
