The Cleveland Indians have acquired versatile infielder Mark DeRosa in a trade with the Chicago Cubs.
The Indians sent minor league pitchers Jeff Stevens, Chris Archer and John Caub to Chicago on Wednesday for DeRosa.

Kenny Lofton was out of the game in 2008, but recently he tried to hurt the Yankees again when he attempted to dissuade CC Sabathia from signing with the club.
"He painted a bad picture of New York and the Yankees," a person with knowledge of the situation said. "A lot of negative things."

The Indians are close to making a decision on closer Kerry Wood and could as soon as Saturday.
Cleveland has already agreed to a two-year deal worth an estimated $20 million but won't make it official until studying the results of Wood's physical.
The right-hander was examined on Thursday.
