Indians Expect Carmona To Miss Four Weeks

The Cleveland Indians expect Fausto Carmona to miss four weeks of action after placing him on the 15-day disabled list, according to The Associated Press.

The pitcher has a strained right hip.

"The good news is that there was no damage to the interior, which would have been much more serious," the Indians' athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said. "If all goes well, Fausto should be able to start playing catch in about seven days."

He was 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA through his first nine starts before giving up six runs in two innings Friday night in a 13-9 loss to the Texas Rangers.

Cleveland Starter Gives Up Run, Tribe Still Sweeps

The Indians completed a sweep of the Athletics on Thursday afternoon, but a Cleveland starter allowed a run for the first time in 44 1/3 innings, according to The Associated Press.

An unearned run against Aaron Laffey on his own throwing error ended the streak, but didn't keep the team from recording their eighth win in ten games.

"When you talk about five guys -- to do it day in and day out it's impressive," Laffey said. "It's just been an incredible week of starting pitching for us."

During Cleveland's recent seven-game homestand, their starters tallied a 6-0 record with an 0.16 ERA in 55 1/3 innings of work.
