General Manager Mark Shapiro says he will talk to Jake Westbrook in spring training about an extension.
"I hope we're able to sit down this spring and get something worked out," Westbrook said.
Michael Maas represents Westbrook. Maas works with Ron Shapiro, Mark's father, but the Shapiros won't be the point men in negotiations. Chris Antonetti, Indians assistant general manager, and Maas will handle the bulk of the negotiations to avoid a conflict of interest.
