Reds Are 'Definitely' Still Looking For Bat

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty says that the team is "definitely" still looking to add a bat.

Cincinnati was one of the teams involved in talks for Mark DeRosa, but St. Louis landed him from Cleveland last week.

While the Reds are looking to add a bat, they are somewhat limited by their payroll.

"We'll look at each deal individually," Jocketty said. "The DeRosa deal was one we thought made sense to pursue. We can't take on a lot of payroll ? I wouldn?t recommend that we do that ? but if the right deal comes along, we'll look at it."

Jocketty: Reds In Market For A Hitter

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty says that the team is looking to add a hitter prior to late July's trade deadline.

"I'd say right now we're buyers," he said. "We're looking for a hitter. If we did something, it would probably be to bring in a hitter. Getting Joey (Votto) back is going to help."

Jocketty also denied rumors that the club is dangling starting pitcher Bronson Arroyo in a trade.

"I haven't talked to anyone about Bronson," Jocketty said.
