Reds Sign Outfielder Gomes

Cincinnati added a bat to their lineup on Monday when they signed free agent outfielder Jonny Gomes to a minor-league contract.

The St. Petersburg Times reported a base salary of $600,000 with a potential $200,000 in added incentives.

"I had other deals for more money but this is the best fit," Gomes told the paper. "I'm really stoked."

Reds Haven't Spoken With Abreu Recently

The Reds have been looking for an outfielder this offseason, but GM Walt Jocketty admitted that he hasn't spoken with Bobby Abreu recently.

"I haven't talked to his agent recently," Jocketty said.

Jocketty also said that Cincinnati doesn't expect to be able to bring Adam Dunn, who the team traded to Arizona last season, back to town.

"I doubt it," Jocketty said of Dunn. "Especially at the price he's looking for."
