Dunn Claims He Never Called Ricciardi To Bury Hatchet

Cincinnati slugger Adam Dunn refuted a report on Tuesday night that he called Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi to bury the hatchet, according to The Associated Press.

Ricciardi criticized Dunn last week, attacking his passion.

"We've done our homework on guys like Adam Dunn and there's a reason why we don't want Adam Dunn," Ricciardi said on the radio last week. "I don't want to get into specifics."

Dunn soon shot back, labeling Ricciardi as a "clown sitting in the front office pushing paper."

Ricciardi later apologized and tried to contact Dunn through Reds executives.

"If he said he talked to me, it's a lie," Dunn said.

Demand Surges For Dominican Inoa, 16

The demand for Michael Inoa, a sixteen-year old Dominican pitching prospect, has surged as of late with the Rangers and Reds joining the Athletics as his suitors, according to ESPN Deportes.

"Oakland has led the pack of teams interested in Inoa, but both Cincinnati and Texas have surged in the past few days, and it is now a three-horse race of big favorites to grab this kid," a source close to ESPN Deportes said.

July 2 marks the beginning of the eligibility period for players who turn 17 years old in September of this calender year.

"Some teams have offered him a major league contract in order to make the offer even more attractive, but Inoa's team is not interested in that. The battle may be fought until the last minutes," the source added.

Griffey Hits No. 601, But Yanks Avoid Sweep

Ken Griffey Jr. hit the 601st home run of his career on Sunday afternoon, but the Yankees defeated the Reds 4-1 to avoid a sweep, according to The Associated Press.

Griffey homered in the eighth inning off Kyle Farnsworth with the Yankees already leading 4-0.

Andy Pettitte kept Cincinnati off the board for seven innings, and Mariano Rivera slammed the door shut with a four-out save.

"We wanted this one badly, but it's tough to sweep these guys," Reds manager Dusty Baker said.
