Reds' Bruce Goes 3-For-3 In Debut

Reds' outfielder Jay Bruce proved why he is considered a top prospect after being called up prior to Tuesday?s game against the Pirates.

Bruce gave the Reds no reason to regret its decision Tuesday, becoming the first Cincinnati player since Willie Green in 1992 to record three hits in his first game, as reported by Yahoo.com.

MLB Suspends Baker, Girardi And Joyner

Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, today made the following discipline announcements:

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions, which included making contact with Umpire Eric Cooper, during the seventh inning of his Club?s game last night against the San Diego Padres at PETCO Park in San Diego. Baker?s suspension is scheduled to begin tonight, when the Reds continue their series against the Padres.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions, which included kicking dirt on Umpire Chris Guccione, during the bottom of the ninth inning of his Club?s game last night against the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium. Girardi is scheduled to serve his suspension tonight, when the Yankees host the Seattle Mariners.

Padres hitting coach Wally Joyner has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for coming onto the playing field to argue during the bottom of the sixth inning of his Club?s Wednesday, May 21st game against the St. Louis Cardinals at PETCO Park in San Diego. Joyner is scheduled to serve his suspension tonight, when the Padres host the Reds.
