Manny Not In Starting Lineup

Manny Ramirez joined the White Sox on Tuesday, but he was not in the team's starting lineup against the Indians.

Ramirez showed up at Progressive Field in Cleveland with his dreadlocks intact, but that may change if he plays immediately.

The White Sox have an appearance policy and they expect Ramirez to conform to it.

Manny To Join White Sox Tuesday

Manny Ramirez will join the White Sox on Tuesday.

"I want him to feel comfortable here," manager Ozzie Guillen said Monday. "I want him to like it here. I want him to have fun and I want him to be Manny."

Chicago wants Ramirez to stretch with his teammates and be on the field for the national anthem. He also may have to trim his dreadlocks.

"Hopefully, he can come in here and give us some help," White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko said. "We need to make up some ground. There's no doubt Manny can hit. He makes any team better."

Manny Will Go To White Sox

Manny Ramirez will go to the White Sox in a straight waiver claim, according to a source.

The source said there was still some chance the two clubs will work out a trade that presumably would involve a high-level prospect going from the White Sox to the Dodgers, a development that probably would mean the Dodgers would pay a small percentage of the $3.825 million remaining on Ramirez's two-year, $45 million contract.
