Konerko Earns Right To Veto Any Trade

Paul Konerko earned the right to veto any trade from the White Sox as he celebrated his tenth year of service in the Major Leagues on Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"I can't see it, really," Konerko said about leaving the White Sox. "Last year was a bad year for the organization...the way everything panned out. I don't see that happening for the team any time soon. I don't see any scenario in which I'm not a White Sox through the length of this deal (through 2010) because I see this team being competitive, and I want to play on a competitive team."

"Last year was one year where everything went down the drain. I don't see that happening again, at least in the next couple years," Konerko added.

Guillen Says He Couldn't Work For Steinbrenner

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen claims that he could never work for New York co-owner Hank Steinbrenner, according to the Chicago Tribune.

He commented on Hank's outspoken role as the team's owner, citing that as the reason why he doesn't think he could work for the younger Steinbrenner.

"It's one of the reasons I don't know if I'll ever manage that club because there are going to be two tigers in the same cage," Guillen said.

"But thank God Jerry Reinsdorf is my owner," Guillen added. "And besides my owner, he's my father. He's one of the best friends of my life. Steinbrenner is just being Steinbrenner, and that's what he is."

Crede: 'Door Always Open' To Negotiate

Joe Crede claims that he is open to negotiating a new contract with the White Sox, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

"There is nothing on my part that I don't want to negotiate a deal or anything like that," Crede said. "I have never said that I didn't want to negotiate a deal. There have never been any concrete talks with us on doing something. If that's what they want to do, that's fine. Our door is always open, though. You can never turn down something that will change not only your life but your kids' lives and their kids' lives. You can't shut the door on that no matter when it happens."

"It doesn't bother me that it's the stance they want to take. They have their negotiating tactics, and obviously we have ours," Crede added.
