White Sox Wanted Two Of Hansen, Masterson And Delcarmen For Dye

The Red Sox made what they considered a strong run for Jermaine Dye, but when the White Sox wanted two of these three players--Craig Hansen, Justin Masterson and Manny Delcarmen--they balked. The Sox probably would have done the deal for Hansen and Wily Mo Pena, but they were not going to part with either of the other two.

Padres Acquire Mackowiak From Chicago

The Chicago White Sox have traded outfielder Rob Mackowiak to the San Diego Padres for a minor leaguer.

Mackowiak is hitting .278 with six home runs and 36 RBIs in 85 games for the White Sox this season.

The name of the minor leaguer headed to the White Sox is unknown at this time.

Dye For Delcarmen And Pena Getting Closer

ESPN is reporting during their MLB trade deadline telecast that the Boston Red Sox are nearing a deal for Jermaine Dye.

The Red Sox would send Manny Delcarmen and Willy Mo Pena to the Chicago White Sox.

Reports out of Chicago say that the White Sox are working on a Dye extension at this hour.
