Toronto Activates Halladay, Option Litsch To Double-A

The Blue Jays activated right-hander Roy Halladay from the 15-day disabled list after Wednesday night's game and optioned right-hander Jesse Litsch to Double-A.

Halladay has been sidelined since undergoing an appendectomy on May 11. He'll face left-hander Mark Buehrle in the opener of a four-game series against the White Sox on Thursday.

Is Pierzynski's Welcome In Chicago Wearing Out?

For once, A.J. Pierzynski may actually care what somebody else thinks about him.

The superbrat catcher of the White Sox creates controversy on a seemingly daily basis with his brazen approach to the game, treading on the toes of opponents both metaphorically and literally. Even his current manager says he is not a good guy.

On Tuesday, Pierzynski added to his resume when he apparently tried to spike Justin Morneau in a rundown. In the past, Pierzynski has thrived on the criticism he attracts. But with his name in the headlines more often than usual this season, he is worried his teammates may be running out of patience.

Rocket To Make Debut On Monday At Chicago

Yankees manager Joe Torre said that all indications are that Roger Clemens is ready to go for his first Major League start of the season, which is tentatively to come Monday against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

With the Yankees' top three pitchers -- Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina and Andy Pettitte -- lined up to pitch against the Red Sox this weekend at Fenway Park, Torre said that Clemens would throw an extra session between his regular work days and slot back to avoid the Boston series.

"I'm not disappointed that he's not pitching in Fenway, let's put it that way," Torre said. "I don't think that series needs any more hype than it gets every time we play it, whether it's at Fenway or at [Yankee] Stadium.

"You'd obviously be tempted if we had a kid pitching and we could replace him with Roger Clemens. But when you have Wang and Moose and Andy, there's really not the temptation to do that."
