GM: Long-Term Deal For Crede Unlikely

Joe Crede's future with the Chicago White Sox appears to be limited.

"Everybody knows how I feel about Joe Crede," GM Ken Williams said. "I wish I could have him on the club the next five years. But I do not anticipate any long-term deal there. I don't see that happening under the current landscape."

Figgins For Crede Rumor Gains Steam

There are persistent rumors that the Angels and White Sox will complete a deal where Chone Figgins will be sent to Chicago in exchange for Joe Crede.

With the Gary Matthews, Jr. signing this week, Figgins has likely played his final game for the Angels.

"We're a pitching-based club," Stoneman said. "That is our philosophy. (Scot) Shields and (Ervin) Santana, losing those guys to fill another position would be a tough thing to do."
