Chicago White Sox Wiretap

If White Sox Hold Firesale, Sale Might Be Only Untouchable

If the Chicago White Sox don't turn things around, there is a decent chance they'll sell off some of their parts to restock the farm system.

Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago believes that if Chicago does hold a firesale, Chris Sale and perhaps Jake Peavy would be the only untouchables.

Sale Takes Perfect Game Into Seventh

Chicago White Sox left-hander Chris Sale took a perfect game into the seventh inning against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday night.

He finished with a one-hitter as the White Sox topped the Angels 3-0 in prime time.

Sale retired the first 19 batters he faced before Mike Trout's sharp single to center ended the perfect game bid with one out in the seventh.

"I knew warming up in the bullpen I felt loose. My arm felt good tonight," Sale said. "Warming up in the bullpen I felt like I was creating some good stuff and just wanted to transfer that out to the field, and it ended up working out tonight."

Peavy Expects To Make Wednesday Start

Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy expects to make his Wednesday start against the New York Mets after throwing a six-minute bullpen session.

Peavy was scheduled to start on Sunday, but back spasms delayed the appearance.

"[Sunday] I really threw for the first time without it grabbing me pretty hard," Peavy said. "Two days ago it was still grabbing me pretty hard, and I had to be relatively pain-free two days prior to me pitching. That was two days ago. If I was pitching [Monday], I wasn't ready.

"But the way I felt today, with a few more days of treatment, I can't see Wednesday night I won't be on cue."

White Sox Lose Floyd To Tommy John Surgery

The Chicago White Sox have announced that Gavin Floyd will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the 2013 season.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altcheck in New York City.

Floyd sought multiple opinions on the injury, hoping major surgery could be avoided.

The 30-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract with Chicago, was 0-4 with a 5.18 ERA in five starts this season.

Peavy To Miss Another Start, DL Possible

Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy will miss his second consecutive start and a trip to the disabled list is a possibility.

Peavy is dealing with back spasms. He was supposed to start against the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

He is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA in five starts this season.
