Rangers Acquire Dempster From Cubs

The Rangers have acquired Ryan Dempster to improve their starting rotation.

Texas and Chicago agreed to the deal just before Tuesday afternoon's deadline. The Braves and Dodgers were favored at points. Dempster approved the last-minute deal.

The Rangers originally selected Dempster in the third round of the 1995 First-Year Player Draft.

The Cubs will acquire to Class A players in the deal.

Ryan Dempster has informed the Cubs that he would approve a trade to the Yankees, according to a source.

Chicago has been trying to send Dempster to the Dodgers, but no agreement has been reached.

The Cubs have said that New York is interested in Dempster.

It has been reported by Bruce Levine of ESPN.com that Dempster would also approve a trade to the Rangers.
