Cubs To Keep Spring Home In Arizona

The Cubs announced Wednesday that they will keep their spring training home in Mesa, Ariz.

The move denies suitors in Florida and keeps Arizona's highest-drawing spring training team in town.

"We've been in Arizona for 57 years and we look forward to the next 57 years," said Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts.

Dawson May Wear Cubs Hat For Speech

Andre Dawson isn't happy that the Hall of Fame decided his plaque in Cooperstown will feature a Expos hat.

Dawson plans to acknowledge Cubs fans during his induction speech in July.

"I know the difference in the 10 to six years probably was something of a consideration on their part," Dawson said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "But I tried to explain, perhaps, the impact of what really catapulted me to Hall of Fame status, and pretty much what my preference was.

"But I think their decision had been made. It was a little gut-wrenching for me to hear that, but it's their decision, and I respect that, and from there I move on."

Cubs Agree To Deal With Marshall; Sign Tracy

The Cubs and Sean Marshall have agreed to terms on a one-year deal, avoiding arbitration by settling on a figure of $950,000, according to a major league source.

Marshall will vie for a rotation spot as the fifth starter or go back to the bullpen as a long man.

As first reported by ESPNChicago.com on Tuesday, Chad Tracy signed a one-year, minor league deal with the Cubs. He will have an opportunity to earn more if he makes the major league roster out of spring training.

The Cubs and free-agent outfielder Xavier Nady have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, according to sources.

The deal is pending a physical.

He hit .305 with 25 home runs and 97 RBI in 2008 with the Pirates and Yankees.
