BoSox Will Wait To Extend Young Players

The Boston Red Sox will not follow suit with the current trend of signing young players to long-term deals, according to The Providence Journal.

They have a host of players with less than three years of service in the Major Leagues - namely Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, and Jonathan Papelbon - but they have yet to lock any of them up.

Multiple factors seem to be playing a role in the team's decision to wait, including the market in Boston, the philosophies of their agents, a lack of financial need, and positions' matters.
