Buck Showalter admitted on Sunday night that he has interest in managing the Orioles.
Showalter said he's "honored" to have the opportunity.
"Managing baseball is not a right; it's something that you earn," Showalter told Karl Ravech on ESPN.
"I"m not going to get into personal issues; we'll see where it takes us. It's an honor -- a lot of people work hard to get this opportunity."

The Orioles have designated infielder Garrett Atkins for assignment.
Atkins signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal with Baltimore this past offseason to be the team's starting first baseman.
Baltimore will have 10 days to trade, release or ask waivers on Atkins, who is hitting .214 this season.

Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis met with principal owner Peter Angelos Thursday afternoon to discuss the team's future.
Markakis recently criticized the team's approach.
"I wanted to give him my input and tell him the things I thought we lacked and needed, and what we needed to change," said Markakis.
"He was completely open to anything. He was listening, and he was a lot easier to talk to than I anticipated. You know me, sometimes you'll have a better conversation with the wall than talking to me. But it went a lot better and it was a lot smoother than I thought it was going to go. If I can strike up a conversation and talk to a guy like him who owns the team, I think it is a good situation."
