Scout: Trembley Doesn't Have O's Fired Up

While watching the Orioles play the Rays last week, a scout noticed a lack of fire from Baltimore's players.

"They have good talent, a couple of good young pitchers, but there's no fire over there whatsoever," the scout told the Boston Globe.

"You've got to show your players you've got the fire no matter where you are in the standings, and you don't see that with the Orioles. That really stands out."

Tigers Acquire Huff From Orioles

The Tigers have acquired Aubrey Huff from the Orioles for a minor league player.

"I've been in last place basically my whole career, so this is an exciting time for me," Huff told the Associated Press. "I'm looking forward to it."

Huff is batting .253 with 13 homers and 72 RBIs this season.

"He adds another left-handed bat to our ballclub and is a middle-of-the-lineup type hitter," Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "We've worked on trying to get a bat for a while."

MacPhail: Trembley's Job Safe For 2009

Orioles president Andy MacPhail has given manager Dave Trembley a vote of confidence, but only through the remainder of the season.

"I have no intention of making any changes in-season," MacPhail said, according to the Baltimore Sun. "We'll address the option when the year ends."

The Orioles are 155-212 since Trembley took the helm of the club on an interim basis in June 2007.

"It's like I said months ago, whatever we decide, it will be toward the end of the year," MacPhail said. "Whether we pick up the option or not, it probably won't be decided until the last weekend of the season. Nothing has really changed on this front."
