Orioles Still Would Have Signed Tejada, Despite Age Difference

The Orioles say that they would still have signed free agent Miguel Tejada back in 2003 even if they were aware of his newfound age, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Tejada revealed to the Astros that he is 33 years old, not 31 as believed.

"I don't think it matters being a couple years," said Orioles' Executive Vice President Mike Flanagan, who signed Tejada to a six-year, $72 million contract in December 2003. "That still would have been considered his prime."

Bedard Scratched From Sunday Matchup With Orioles

Erik Bedard won?t be facing his former teammates on Sunday after all according to an Associated Press report.

A hip injury will keep the left-hander from making his scheduled start for the Mariners against the Orioles. It was supposed to be the first appearance by Bedard in Baltimore since he was traded by the Orioles to Seattle for five players in February.

Orioles Sign Cintron To Minor League Deal

The Baltimore Orioles signed infielder Alex Cintron to a Minor League deal on Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

He batted .243 in 68 games with the White Sox last year.

The Orioles immediately assigned him to Class AAA Norfolk.
