Orioles Claim Guthrie Off Waivers From Indians

The Orioles claimed pitcher Jeremy Guthrie off waivers from the Indians on Monday and added the right-hander to their 40-man roster.

The 27-year-old Guthrie had a 6.98 ERA in nine games with Cleveland last year. He spent most of the season at Triple-A Buffalo, where he went 9-5 with a 3.14 ERA.

Trade: Orioles Send Lopez To Rockies For Two Minor-Leaguers

The Rockies obtained right-hander Rodrigo Lopez from the Orioles on Friday for minor league right-handers Jim Miller and Jason Burch.

Lopez was 9-18 with a 5.90 ERA last season in 29 starts and seven relief appearances. His 18 losses were the most in the majors and matched the second-highest in club history.

Ripken Interested If Angelos Decides To Sell Orioles

Cal Ripken Jr. would be interesting in buying the Orioles if Peter Angelos decides to sell the team.

Ripken Professional Baseball has owned the Class-A Aberdeen Ironbirds of the New York-Penn League since 2002 and the Class-A Augusta GreenJackets of the South Atlantic League since 2005. There has been speculation that Ripken would want to own the Orioles and he was asked Wednesday about a possible purchase at the Hall of Fame news conference.
