Reyes To Miss Series Against Braves

Mets shortstop Jose Reyes is expected to miss the team's series against the Braves with a strained oblique.

New York will begin a four-game series against Atlanta on Monday night.

Reyes initially suffered the injury in late June during a series against the Marlins in Puerto Rico. He aggravated it early last week.

Lou Piniella To Retire After Sunday's Game

Cubs manager Lou Piniella says he is retiring after Sunday's game against the Braves, as reported by ESPN.com.

The Cubs named third base coach Mike Quade manager for the rest of the season, starting with Monday's game at Washington.

Wagner Says He's No Favre, He'll Retire

Braves closer Billy Wagner has pitched well this season and there is a vested $6.5 million option in his contract for the 2011 season.

Regardless, Wagner will stick to his initial plans to retire after the season.

"I'm retiring," the left-hander said. "I don't know how to say it in a politically correct way, that anybody's going to believe me.

"Until I don't show up next year, nobody's going to believe me. Brett Favre's f?ed it up for everybody."
