Braves Name Heyward Starter In Right Field

Braves manager Bobby Cox told rookie right fielder Jason Heyward on Friday morning that he will start for the team on Opening Day.

"I said 'I'm delighted to tell you that you're on the team, Jason, simply because it makes us a better team,' " Cox told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Heyward didn't seem fazed by the announcement.

"Not surprised, not relieved," he said. "It's just says 'Let's go.' I?ve got less than a week's time to get ready for the season."

A Gwinnett Braves pitcher was arrested Thursday night in a Kissimmee, Fla., online prostitution sting, according to televised reports.

Right-handed pitcher Deunte Heath was caught in a police operation that used Web sites like craigslist.org to advertise potential sexual liaisons, Orlando ABC TV affiliate WFTV reported.

Heath, 24, was picked up after 6 p.m. by Kissimmee police as he tried to make an arranged meeting. He was charged with soliciting a prostitute.

Atlanta's Phenom Not Changing Approach

Jason Heyward went 2-for-4 Wednesday against the Phillies to snap an 0-for-8 stretch.

Heyward went hitless in two at-bats against Phillies? left-handed starter J.A. Happ, but then came back with singles in his final two at-bats against two Phillies? right-handed relievers Dave Herndon and Danys Baez.

"Nothing?s changed,? said Heyward, who is now hitting .378 for the spring. ?I take the same approach now, just keep getting ready for the season, keep getting at-bats, keep getting reps in the outfield, run the bases, pick up signs. Play the game.?
