Miguel Cabrera hit three home runs on Sunday night, but it wasn't enough as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Texas Rangers.
Cabrera hit a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth off Derek Holland, then went deep again in the eighth against Tanner Scheppers.
He went 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs and is flirting with the lead in all three Triple Crown categories.
"I've never seen a guy that puts the bat head on the ball as regular as he does, and on all pitches," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "He's just a tremendous hitter. I'm very happy that he's headed to the airport."
Cabrera is the 23rd player in MLB history to go 4-4 with at least 3 HR, 5 RBI and 4 runs scored.

Matt Moore directed the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, improving his record to 8-0 on the season.
Moore gave up one run, struck out three and walked one to become the first eight-game winner in the majors.
The 23-year-old is the youngest lefty to start the season 8-0 since Ruth did it in 1917 at age 22.
"Historically speaking, it's been wonderful," Joe Maddon said of Moore's season.
