Astros' third baseman Ty Wigginton will not land on the disabled list because of a broken left thumb, according to the Houston Chronicle. "(Hitting coach) Sean Berry threw to him, and he got through that part of it with no problems," GM Ed Wade said. "He was able to swing the bat and hit. He still has some issues catching the ball, but after talking to (head athletic trainer) Dave Labossiere and (assistant general managers) Ricky Bennett and David Gottfried, both of whom were down there when Wiggy came in to work out, we just decided to keep him on the active roster." He hasn't played since Saturday for Houston. |
