The Red Sox sent Bartolo Colon to the Minor Leagues on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com.

Boston had been raving about his progress recently, but he couldn't get out of the first inning in a game against the Yankees earlier this week.

He must be added to the Red Sox 40-man roster to receive a $1.2 million, one-year contract and have the chance to earn performance bonuses.
