The Tigers and third baseman Miguel Cabrera are continuing to talk about a long-term contract, according to the Detroit Free Press.

It's unclear how close, or far away, the parties are to agreeing to terms on a contract.

Cabrera will be eligible for free agency after the 2009 season.
