Wearing No. 60, Billy Crystal got his chance to play for the Yankees a day before his 60th birthday. A lifelong Yankees fan, the righty faced Pirates left-hander Paul Maholm.

With the entire Yankee dugout on its feet to watch the team's latest free-agent signing, Crystal worked the count to 3-1 before striking out swinging, according to an ESPN.com report.

After taking ball 1 high, Crystal fouled off strike 1, hitting a bouncer along the first-base line. He took ball 2 inside and ball 3 high before Maholm came back with a pair of inside fastballs that Crystal swung and missed on for the game-opening strikeout.

He waved to the cheering crowd as he walked back to the dugout.
