Cincinnati shortstop Alex Gonzalez will likely miss Opening Day because of a broken knee that was diagnosed late last week, according to the Associated Press.

The injury will keep Gonzalez off the field for three weeks, which won't allow him much time to prepare for the team's first game of the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"It would be hard for him to make it back on time, unless a miracle happens," manager Dusty Baker said.
