Miguel Cabrera is scheduled to become a free agent following the 2009 season.

The Tigers acquired him with the expectation that he would be in Detroit long-term, but he so far hasn't given any indications that he wants to sign an extension, according to the Detroit Free-Press.

Cabrera has been working extremely hard on his conditioning since the offseason.

According to RealGM, Cabrera had a season FIC of 215 and 'deserved' to make $10.037 million in 2007, giving him a Reina Value of +36%. But with Cabrera's level of consistency from season to season being so high, combined with his youth, he is likely to fetch an annual salary that nears $20 million.
