Curt Schilling's $8 million contract for the 2008 season is not insured, according to information the Boston Globe obtained from a Red Sox team source on Sunday.
Boston will be responsible for the entire amount of his deal even if he misses the season with shoulder problems. The only way the Red Sox wouldn't have to pay him the $8 million he's owed would be if he decided to retire.
