Japanese pitcher Katsuhiko Maekawa agreed to terms with the Nationals on a minor league deal Tuesday and will be invited to spring training, according to the Associated Press.

The 29-year-old Maekawa most recently pitched for Orix of the Pacific League in 2006, going 1-7 with a 5.26 ERA.

The Nationals also announced that right-hander Enrique Gonzalez was claimed off waivers by the Padres.
