The Nationals signed Chad Cordero for the 2008 season Friday, avoiding salary arbitration with the closer.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The subject of numerous trade rumors, Cordero went 3-3 with a 3.36 ERA and 37 saves in 76 games with the Nationals last season.
