The Reds on Friday signed infielder Andy Phillips to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Phillips hit .292 with two home runs and 25 RBI in 61 games last season while part of the Yankees' platoon at first base, but he failed to earn regular starts. Phillips also appeared at second and third base.
